3 Tricks To Train Your Pitbull Pup

So, you’re looking for some great tricks to teach your energetic Pitbull pup? Well, you’ve come to the right place!

You’ll probably already know that Pitbulls are extremely smart and eager to learn and please, with the breed being lovingly known for their playfulness and affectionate nature.

You’ll probably also know that a lot of people are intimidated by the breed, as they’ve been given a bad reputation in the past.

So, what better way to break the ice and introduce your Pitbull pup to the world as a loving, cutesy pet by teaching it some simple and easy tricks?

Not only will your training program help you build a great bond with your four-legged friend, but it will also allow positive reactions from people who are skeptical about Pitbulls.

Start your training today with these three tricks and let your pup be the perfect ambassador for their intelligent breed!

#1. The Kiss Trick

The ultimate trick that almost every dog owner wants to teach their pup are we right?

Here’s the lowdown on the kiss trick when you are training a Pitbull pup:

Start by placing a little treat on the palm of your hand. Open it, point to it and say “Kiss”. When your pup comes to lick the treat, say “Yes” and reward them by giving them a treat with the other hand.

Repeat this process around five times until your dog recognizes the command, and then remove the treat but perform the same actions so that your dog licks your hand when you say “Kiss” without any sweet incentive.

Over time, your pup will recognize the command and give you a kiss whenever you ask for one!

#2. The Handshake Trick

Start by kneeling in front of your pup while they’re sat down.

Softly hold its front paw, say “Yes” and give them a treat. Like before, repeat 5-10 times until they understand the command, slowly adding a small pause before marking and rewarding their behavior.

Next, start to lift your pup’s paw and add a little shake. Keep repeating, rewarding your puppy with a small treat for its success. Use the command word when holding the foot, followed by a reward.

Once your puppy understands the movements, you can remove the command word and simply put your hand up and wait for them to shake or hi-five.

This trick is great for meeting new people, as instead of the Pitbull pup jumping up on someone to greet them, they can simply give them a handshake instead!

#3. The Spin Trick

Start with a treat in your hand and lure your pup around in a small circle. Once it has completed the initial spin, say “Yes” and reward your puppy with a treat

Repeat in the opposite direction, as your dog needs to understand the difference between clockwise and anti-clockwise.

Repeat ten times each way until they understand and then remove the treat aspect.

Once your dog does a full circle without the incentive of a treat, keep repeating until you know they understand it fully.

Add verbal clues such as “Left” or “Right” so you can differentiate which way you want your dog to go, and sit back and enjoy the cuteness of your puppy doing twirls!

Bottom Line

So, once you’ve tried out these three simple tricks, your Pitbull pup will be well on their way to becoming a well-trained canine!

There’s no better feeling than building that special bond with your pet, so go on — give it a go!
